| I have a newspaper clipping: February 7, 1940 SLEEPING SICKNESS CAUSES DEATH OF MRS. ELMER WILLIAMS Mrs. Bertha Morris Williams, 64 years old, died Tuesday morning, February sixth, of sleeping sickness at the Napper Hospital, Scottsburg. Daughter of James Edward and Elizabeth Gibbons Morris, she was wed October 15, 1899 to Elmer Williams. A devoted wife admirable mother and loyal friend she possessed many exemplary traits of character. Funeral rites will be held at one o'clock Thursday afternoon at the First Christian church, by the Rev. Wales E. Smith, with burial in Crown Hill cemetery. A son, James Wendell, the parents, a brother Omri Morris and a sister, Mrs. Laura Cooley, Scottsburg, preceded her in death. Surviving are the husband, three sons, Wilbur, Lebert and Everett, one brother, Anson Morris and four sisters, Mrs. Anna Garriott, Little York, Mrs. Mary Spurgeon, Salem, Mrs. Phema Pfaffenberger, Fruita Colorado and Mrs. Miranda Lester, Dwight, Illinois.
