Jerry D. Hatton (1945 - 2012)
Jerry D. Hatton, 67, of Cedar Crest Drive, Columbus, died
at 4:23 A.M. Saturday, May 5, 2012, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Jerry was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve and U.S. Air Force Reserve. He
was employed by Cummins Engine Company for 37 years, retiring in 2002. Jerry
attended First Church of the Nazarene in Seymour. He was a member of the
Jackson Masonic Lodge #146 F&AM in Seymour, Loyal order of the Moose Lodge
#398, and the American Legion. He loved NASCAR, especially Jeff Gordon, and
enjoyed going to the races every year with his buddies. Jerry loved all his
four legged canine kids, especially Torie Ann.
Jerry was born February 19, 1945, the son of Eva Hatton McCain and Howard
Hatton.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Poisel Hatton; children Chad (Angie) Hatton
of Seymour, Derek Hatton of Columbus, Melissa (Mike) Smith of Columbus, Marc
(Patty) Smith of Nashville, IN, Michelle (Jim) Williams, Chad (Crystal)
Smith, all of Columbus, Brooke Kroger of Columbus, Jeff (Barb) Hatton of
Greensburg, Mike (Melissa) Hatton of Columbus; 22 grandchildren; 6
great-grandchildren; siblings Bill Hatton of Columbus, Robert (Judy) Hatton
of Seymour, Linda (Don) Russell of Seymour,a sister-in-law Linda Hatton of
Seymour; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter Kayleigh; a twin
brother Larry Hatton who died in 2010, and a sister-in-law Sandy Hatton.
A Masonic Memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. followed by a
funeral service Wednesday, May 9th, 2012 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral
Home with the Rev. Don Fausnaugh officiating. Calling will be from 4:00 to
8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 8th, and from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday.
Burial will be at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery.
